An Embarrassing Record of Failure

The Hate Blogs, authored by Gary Lopez and Eric Schwaab, have been whacking away with their mean-spirited attacks on hard working and decent town employees, elected officials and volunteers for two years.

They said they represent the vast majority of Barnstable residents. They promised to field a slate of candidates in every race. The results thus far?

Councilor James Crocker is unopposed.

Councilor Anne Canedy is unopposed.

Councilor Greg Milne is unopposed.

Councilor Rick Barry is unopposed.

Councilor Henry Farnham is facing a challenge from John Brennan, who ran against Farnham four years ago and is not a Lopez candidate.

Councilor James Munafo has two challengers. One is Michael Hersey who is a local lawyer and not affiliated with Lopez. The other is Eric Schwaaab, the only Hate Blog candidate in this year's Council race.

Councilor Gary Brown is term-limited out. Three candidates are vying for the seat, Jason Cox, Lou Gongaga and James Tinsley, none of which are Hate Blog sponsored candidates.

The net result? After a six month recruiting effort, the Hate Blogs, AKA Gary Lopez and Eric Schwaab, convinced the grand total of ONE person to run for Town Council. Eric Schwaab.

And let us not forget the School Committee race. Three incumbents, Patrick Murphy, David Lawler and Peg Dandritch are up for re-election. Former Superintendent Tom MacDonald tossed his hat in the ring, too. He obviously is not a Hate Blog candidate. He cares about Barnstable too much.

Two hate Blog candidates have entered the race, Thomas Dolby and Sean Walsh. So the Hate Blogs recruited two candidates.

One just dropped out. Sean Walsh announced he is no longer in the race.

That means there is only one candidate left, Thomas Dolby.

So that means that after months of recruiting, Lopez and Schwaab recruited a grand total of three candidates. One dropped out. That leaves Tom Dolby and one other. Eric Schwaab.

An embarrassing record of failure.

What do you think?

BB,

The Koggers are more concerned with bitching about things than trying to fix them....now let's examine the 2 KOG candidates: Muffy and Dolby.

Muffy quit his position on the water board shortly after being placed on it (meanwhile, he is out campaigning that water issues are his biggest concern!), then writes derogatory comments about the same councilors who he hopes to sit and work with....I'm sure that all of the councilors will bend over backwards to help someone who has spent the last couple of years insulting them.

Dolby, whom KOG claims will "save" the schools, during his previous school committee terms gave Barnstable million dollar deficits, failed superintendent hirings, and finance directors who were indicted. He has also felt free in the past to insult those people he now wants to work with.

These people just don't get it....if all your criticisms are destructive, how will you have be able to build up reforms?

It is funny how they claim to represent the majority when their record is so poor. Lopez and Schwaab could only find one candidate...Schwaab.

Residents are catching on to the hate blogs. Their candidates will go the way of other Hate Blog candidates like Joe Pino, Rick Porteus, etc.

I understand that Schwaab is campaigning on lies:
****he tells people our town doesn't care about kids because they allow our water to flow through pipes with asbestos that will harm children. This is a lie and it is proven so by information available to anyone who asks.
***he says that the town is letting the airport break laws and that they will build a huge new airport. our town is very limited in what it can do about airport manager. does anyone remember the ballot question 6 or 7 years ago? the town does not control management of the airport.
****he claims to want to change things in the town. How do you do that if you don't get along with any of the other councilors. Has anyone seen gregg milne get anything done with other councilors lately? everyone knows he is part of the COG group and he doesn't even try to do anything any more.

There are better choices in precinct 3. We don't want a COG person on our town council.

No the town is limited in the control over airport matters yet its pushing as hard as it can to build a new terminal at cost to the taxpayer - whether federal or state it still comes out of our pockets.

About two years back Councilor Milne tried to get this council to vote to bring the airport under town control (this is the second time he tried) and the whole council voted no.

We need Hersey on the council in place of Munafo. And we need write-in in uncontested precincts. The machine is no longer working for the people because they think they know better than the people.

I wish someone was running against Greg Milne. I never listen to him when he talks because he says so many words with so little content. We need some excitement in Preceinct 13. Hopefully, the 4 Hyannis Councilors, who ever they are, can work together to get Hyannis the respect it deserves. It really is a nice place to live. Oyster Harbors, it is not, but it is home. Besides, have you seen their tax bills? My $1800 tax bill is chump change-hey Oyster Harbors-thanks for paying for kids teacher!

I think the true waste will be the charter amendment committee. Looking over those who are running, it appears that weak cast of characters may be elected to the committee. Lord knows what kind of recommendations they will come up with.

The problem lies in the result - the last committee came up with something so objectionable to the majority that it was defeated. If the next committee doesn't find a more universally patatable revision, this too is doomed to failure.

I think it sad that so many whack jobs are running for the committee - they could derail the efforts of the saner committee members - I don't think they will ultimately offer any passable reforms to a document that could use some tweaking.

BB, Facts are facts. Did you notice no one from KOG is coming forward to debate this post. One candidate. Eric Schwaab. What a joke!

Isn't it also interesting the silence coming from KOG now that his prediction about the CCC and Paul N has turned out to be dead wrong.

Just like all Lopez' other predictions!

BB, The only other human being worse at making predictions than Lopez is John Julius.

How do we get people to come out and vote next tuesday for hersey and tinsley?
I heard that cox just cares about wanting to park his work trucks in front of his house and the town supports his neighbors who asked the town to enforce the laws about work trucks in residential neighborhoods.

Gonzaga is a COGstah there is no question after watching his performace against the CCC he is a big business guy and will not support residents but will be bouncing between the COGgers and the fat pockets of crocker and company.

Tinsley has kids in school and is hardworking good guy.

We need to get people to go out and support the two guys who actually live here and arent carpetbaggers they have kids in school are young and are running for the council for all the right reasons. NEW BLOOD no connections to developers or COG or anyone that makes us wonder what they are up to.
Tinsley and Hersey for Hyannis!!!!!!
