Can a Problem Be Solved in One Week?

The answer is an obvious YES. If the parties want it to happen, it will.

Oh, you could go the litigious route and spend three years and hundreds of thousands of dollars in Court. I know at least two (one non-resident) Hate Bloggers who would think that is just fine. But the BarnstableBlogger doesn't. And I would bet that you don't either.

How do we solve this problem?

All it takes is a good plan and a ton of good will. Not the kind that dies by idle threats and chest stomping and law suits. But the kind that says to Barnstable and Yarmouth residents, hey, we're in this together. Let's work together and take a win.

So what is the Plan?

1. The Town of Barnstable supports the appointment of 2 Yarmouth residents to serve on the Airport Commission.

2. The Commission and Town Council representatives immediately meet with Airline officials to negotiate an understanding that flights don't start at the crack of dawn.

3. The Commission implements a real noise monitoring and abatement Program with the help, advice and guidance of Yarmouth officials.

That's it. That's all it takes. Free advice and consultation from yours truly. I could have probably charged and received $100,000. as a consultant but for a limited time only, the plan is yours. For free.

I am going fishing. Happy Negotiating to You!

What do you think?

BB, It makes too much sense. I bet Muppy and the old man from Centerville will do everything possible to stop a resolution from happening. But, as usual, they will lose and this problem will be solved.

Oh, May 11 12:00 a.m. another crack at other bloggers that was allowed. Your mantra is rules are made to be broken. You must love the council president.

It's naive to think that this Town will allow that much participation by another Town in the airport. It's also naive to think that no early morning flights will go out because that's the bread and butter for Cape and Island Air. If they don't fly workers and newspapers at the crack of dawn, where's the incentive to keep this place open? As for negotiating, that too has been demonstrated to fail numerous times. A for instance is the Crocker Committee. There were to be no councilors on that committee. All the council agreed to its formation and when it was done who chaired it, Mr. Crocker. Look at the two years it took to get two acre zoning to a tiny portion of Barnstable Village. With the exception of Hyannis every other vilage is zoned two acres. Why not zone all of Barnstable two acres?

I'm not against negotiating, but you have to be able to trust the people you are negotiating with. You can't trust this bunch.

Why aren't you for the failed resolution of Mr. Milne, bring the airport back under the town manager? I think that's the first step in getting some control over that airport. Yet, council voted against it perhaps because further consolidates power in the manager's hands.

Come up with some realistic suggestions and maybe you'll succeed at what you think this blog can do.

This glib and shallow posting could have been foisted on us by Schwaab. Now you can delete this comment just as Schwaab or Lopez would do. Is BB starting its descent to the lowest common denominator?

BB-

Anon is a typical hate-blog response. We're all naive. Nothing will ever work. Blame everyone. Don't even try to make a difference.

They know that if we solve problems they can't complain. Stay positive BB and keep up the good work. If a Barnstable official calls Yarmouth, we will be well on the way to closure. The haters don't want that.

It sounds like a reasonable plan, BB. Should I call my Councilor and tell him to join in?

Yes you should!

Your proposal makes more sense than anything I have read on the other blogs for two years. Let's move forward.
