We have spent a little time talking about a senile coot named Gary Lopez. But what about his spokesman, John Julius, who shows up at every Town Council meeting and reads a statement formulated by Gary Lopez.
Julius, a local realtor for Today Real Estate, has announced his candidacy for the Barnstable Charter Commission, making him a public figure. He has, quite ironically, thus lost the privacy protection that puts him in the same category as those who he has viciously attacked for several years.
Julius is what you call a one trick pony. The message is the same no matter who he is talking about. Whether it is a Councilor, Committee volunteer or Town employee, everyone (except him, of course) is a moron, a liar, a cheat, a criminal. Everyone. Except him. And Gary Lopez, of course.
Gary says jump. John says how high. Gary announces his candidacy for Charter Commission. John announces his candidacy for Charter Commission. The King and the Jester.
What a pair! We'll have more about the Jester soon.

I hear that JJ wants to picket any business that does not toe the COG line.
I think that we should picket sleazy residential realtors who are profiting from people's misfortunes by chasing foreclosures.

BB, I just talked to soneone who had a run in with Julius recently. He wants to have coffee with me to give me some details.
He can't wait to contribute to anyone who runs against him. I take it it wasn't a great experience!

Julius is a ridiculous plague on the Town of Barnstable and all the good people who live and work here. He is so ignorant he doesn't even know it. I couldn't imagine the voters electing JohnBoy to ANYTHING.
Why do I have this sneaky feeling that the Julius story will have something to do with booze?

The official JESTER of KOG plays a vital role for KingKOG and Muffy, as he says and does the things they won't. It seems that they point him in a certain direction, and then stand back as he explodes like a suicide bomber in Baghdad.
He is the penultimate reason for good citizens to run for Charter Commission....can you even imagine how bad CC meetings would be if the JESTER had a seat at the table? Can you imagine any town official being willing to sit down with him and discuss possible reforms? Having burnt every bridge in town, how can he be someone to build our bridge to the future?

Adding the JESTER to the list brings it to only 15 people, and 9 are elected. Decent odds even for a lousy candidate.
Here is a possible scenero to consider....unless we get more quality candidates, the voters will be so repulsed by the thought of having the likes of KingKOG, the JESTER, and Muffy the Stray Dog elected to a CC that they will vote NOT to have a CC, making the candidates a moot point.
Then again, maybe that is KOG's secret strategy...field a slate of candidates so bad that the CC will be rejected, thus giving themselves unlimited opportunities to complain, smear, and defame local officials for the foreseeable future....it will keep their blogs in business and provide for more conspiracy theories about how the Town cheated them out of charter reform.
Julius is probably at home waiting for Gary to forward him his next speech.
